Hey, families!

I hope you're all enjoying the beautiful weather!

Letter of the week: Qq

Number of the week: 13

This week, will be learning about the letter Qq. In class, we will talk about the letter's shape and sound and get the kiddos started on learning to draw Qq. We will also be learning about the number 13- what it looks like and counting 13 objects. At home, the kids could practice drawing Qq or individually touch and count 13 blocks or crayons!

We're also learning the days of the week in Spanish! You parents and grandparents should hear your smarties! They are able to recite the days in English and Spanish in succession, I bet we'll have the days down individually in no time!

If you'd like to practice at home, here are the days in English and Spanish:

Sunday- domingo

Monday- lunes

Tuesday- martes

Wednesday- miércoles

Thursday- jueves

Friday- viernes

Saturday- sábado

Along with days of the weeks, we are also learning to count in Spanish and say our colors!

Here is a link to an AWESOME supplement to learning Spanish at home:

http://www.123teachme.com/learn_spanish/spanish_for_children

It's all free and the site provides great and fun ways for your geniuses to build their Spanish skills.

We're also learning some great Bible verses through song. I'm currently looking for links so you can hear what the songs sound like, if you'd like to practice at home. But, just so you have an idea, we're learning Joshua 1:9 right now:

"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not be terrified, do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go."

Since I am usually out before I get a chance to talk to most of you, I'm going to start sending home folders with a sticker calendar so we can communicate your child's progress. When the folder comes back, your child will be rewarded with a new sticker on our in-class chart, earning treats and prizes!

Thank you all SO much for allowing me the opportunity to know and love your kids! I look forward to the coming months and getting to know each of you better. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns or need anything else!

Christ's love,

Kristina (Ms. K)

Meet Ms. Shaw

I was born in Tyler, Texas but have lived in the Austin / Round Rock area for over 15 years. I attended Tyler Junior College and am presently pursuing an degree in Early Elementary education as well as my CDA.

Having taught in Children's Ministry for 5 years, I am passionate about investing in the lives of children. I want to develop the children's personalities and faith in Jesus Christ as well as teach them the "book skills" that they will need for life.

I love teaching at Kingdom Heights Christian School and partnering with the parents of my kiddos to develop each individual child together.
